July 2, 2012

Hola Familia,
Well alas... I knew this day would come where I had to say, this is my last email... The good news is the Will of God has been accomplished.I don't really have too much to say this week. Its been super brutal staying focused, we had a hard week, not because we were not working hard it was just because most of our appointments fell through. but in the long run it was a really good week. we were able to get quite abit accomplished even tho number wise we didn't get squat accomplished. god has been great to us, this last and final week will defiantly keep us busy, we are loaded with appointments. the fourth of July we have our p-day, we are emailing today because the library's will be closed. so to keep the 4 of July tradition we are going fishing... again!!! last Monday we went fishing in a members pond... and this Ole boy still got it in him. first cast caught a 3 pound cat fish,  and one other. i will send pictures. epic, we use cherry tomatoes for bait? weird huh.  it was great fun. we will to get some real fish when i get home.. this warm water things ain't that fun. it has been hot here! there was a couple day that were 103-105 with out humidity, with humidity it was HOT. I don't know what else to say. I just want you all to know that this has been the best 2 years for my life. Its been real, its been fun, but hasn't been real fun. But it was worth it every bit. I know that my savior Jesus Christ is my savior and redeemer. That he is the prophesied messiah. I know that God loves us so much, so much that he allowed this the new world , Amercica, be able to be the home of the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so that Joseph Smith could be the called and given authority to be be able to act in the name of God to restore the primitive church to the fullest. I know with out a doubt in my mind that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the lords kingdom here on the earth today. I love you all and will see you all real soon.

Hey Everyone!
Thins was a Fantastic week. it was just super awesome. we got a lot accomplished. we were able to see some fantastic miracles. its been crazy hot here this week as well. it went from cold to brutally hot seems like it was just over night as well. Muncie is just the same as it was last week not a whole lot has changed in the past week i will tell you on a super cool tender Merci that we had this week. So all week we have been struggling to find some one to teach, seems like no one would accept the message that we shared rejection after rejection we kept working. The whole week seemed like it was this pattern. finally last night my companion said our usual companionship prayer that we say be for we go out to work. he said "Father Please we need a miracle, please let us have one" as we went to our appointment we found out the he had invited his grand-daughter to the lesson that was super interested about the church it was a fantastic lesson and we all felt the spirit super strong, the lord really does answer prayers. I am very grateful for the power that we possess that comes from prayer. Our Heavenly father does love us and wants to help us when ever possible. that is the coolest thing i have found on this the lords mission. Today we are going fishing, i am pretty excited I am super our of skill, we will see what the lord can do to help me catch a fish or two.  i love this work. I will see you all here in a little bit love you all have a great week.!

Hey Family,
The things are going well here in Muncie. This week has been Brutal. Its been super duper Hot.  Over all tho we had a pretty good week. We are still teaching on average about 10-15 lessons a week witch is a record for me in a while.  We are still finding new people to teach we are averaging about 4-6 new people to teach each week as well. It is just fantastic. We had interviews with our mission president this week... it was kinda odd, knowing that it was my last in field interview, the next one that i will have with President will be my departing interview.  My Companion is still doing just super he is a great influence to me and keeping me going to the end. The other elders in our apartment are as well doing great, its been a real riot living with 4 elders in one apartment. This week we invited 2 of our investigators to baptism this week for September 22, it was cool. They are brother and sister ages 12, 10, they come from a part member family and they are doing great. At the lesson the boy said the opening prayer and we had the lesson with them and again at the closing prayer he volunteered to say it again because," if you pray a lot you will have a better girlfriend." it was priceless. After that he was ragging on his grandpa by saying that he didn't pray enough in his life... Needless to say, grandma was not to happy. They are a great family and will be really strong in the gospel after they are baptised. I love you all and have a great week.

Hey Family,
Things are going great for us this week. We had an epic week. We taught a whole bunch and we got alot accomplished. This area is amazing, and the work is definatly picking up from a week ago. I am very blessed to have been transferred for my last area.  I have learned alot from my companion. He is great!  Anyways we taught 10 lessons this week, that is alot, the most that i have taught in a while. this area is on fire. We have one with a baptism date for August 10, he is super great. And we have about a million first lessons and very little second lessons, but all in all it is just fantistic.  Just a cool experience that we had yesterday. All day we had very little success with our investigators, apointment after apointment they just fell through, and nothing we felt were being accomplished. After the whole day of doing that and trying to talk to everyone that was in our path with out success, we tried our last plan, and no success there either.  Headed back to the car to head home we found a really nice lady and started talking to her and helped her pick worms off the leaves of her garden. As we talked with her we found out that she was a lost member that had been lost for a couple decades and want to come back to chruch. It was just fantistic to see how the lord gives us the tender mericies when we need them the most to stay positive about the work. The spirit is just a awesome gift that our heavenly father has given to us to help us and goive us the things that we need at points of our life. It was epic to just see how that was the cherry on the top of our day. the cool thing about it is its a part member family that is intrested about it.
I love this work. I know that it is truly inspried of God. God Lives and Loves us. The Book of Mormon is So true. These experieces that we have in live is what changes us and allows us to experience true repentance, and Access that great and everlasting sacrifice that our Lord and Redeemer has made for us. I love you all and i hope that you have a great week.

Hey You Guys!!
Funcie Muncie Indiana!! that is the place where i want to be...well thats the place that i am at.Yup thats right Muncie Indaiaha 1505 W, Riggen Road. Muncie IN, 47304. This place is awesome, we have about a million and a half investigators and are always just super busy. The place that we live is upstairs of an animal hosptial... Its not what it sounds like. A member owns the place, and built an apartment upstairs. It is huge and really well kept, by fat the nicest apartment i have lived in. We have a garbage disposal, a washer and dryer, a home gym, personal walk in offices, and a dish washer... This place is the hook up. There is 4 of us living in the appartment. Its pretty cool. Me new companion is Elder Hunsaker, he is from Arozona, he is cool and works hard and is very low maintance. His dad also owns 3-4 yamaha dealerships in Phenox. The other Two elders are our zone leaders Elder Tapp and elder Munguia, Elder Tapp is from Idaho Falls and went to high school at HIllcrest, Elder Munguia is from Keller Texas. They are both steller elders. And it is a total blast. Here in Muncie i am still a District leader and am loving it i have a district that is fairly large, 4 companionships one is zone leaders, and one is a sr couple, the other is just regular elders. It is fantastic. I love this area alot and being able to actually teach again and to have a solid companion. My last companion elded up going home this week to get stuff fixed and to get some professional help. I am great full for the chance that i had to serve with him and i hope for the best with him. The lord will help him, he is in a better place for sure. So nothing too much is going on, Just a fun fact, the group of missionaries that i came out with are now the oldest in the mission. and every one of us is in a leadership prostion. My mtc companion is the assistant. a couple zone leaders and a couple of us district leaders. that is amazing. I am so very greatfull for the experience that i am able to have this great privlage to have intrusted with me this sacred privlage to share the restored gospel. I know with out a doubt that this is the best thing ever. I know that Heavanly Father lives as well as his son Jesus Christ, That thier church has been restored to the fullest today for us and that we have a living prophet to lead and to guide us back to our Heavenly Father. I know that there is a plan for us to be happy through out eternity. I love being a missionary of the restored gospel. I love you all and hope that you have agreat week.

Hey family,
Things are going this week. We got the call yesterday from the assistants, we are both getting transferred. I am going to miss this area but it happens. I am relieved to get a new companion. Its been a rough week between us.  That's all that I am going to say.  This week we were able to have a couple of lessons that were fantastic, but other than that not a whole lot has happened.  Things are stating to look up in the area there are some good things that are starting to happen, which is great. The new missionaris that are coming in will love it because there is at least a little bit going on.  They will be great full for that. So I dont know where my new area will be so I will let you al lknow on Monday. I will find out tomorrow, that is when our meeting is. Also this week I was able to catch 2 skunk babies. They were too cute so I released them... well actually my companion started to cry. I had to do it to keep the peace. Trust me I am not a softie. But they made for some cool videos. The work is going well I am freaked out of my mind right now knowing that I come home soon. But I know the Lord will provide a way for me to stay focused. I love you all and I hope that you have a great week.

May 21, 2012

Hello Family!!,
Things were really well this week!  Purdue is still dead kinda, most of the students do go home for the summer, there is still a little bit that will stay for summer school but not a whole lot. So things there are still a little slow in that area.  We had a fantastic experience this week. First off I had an over night leadership conference. It was a full day of jammed packed trainings from President Collins and the zone leaders. It was amazing. I realized at the conference that I am the Sr. district leader, Kinda like Sr. apostle. I have been in the longest. So that is pretty exciting. After that spiritual feast, we were assigned a new companion for the day and a new area for the night. believe it or not I was assigned to an area in my last district. That was amazing, I was able to go back to Plainfield and do some work there. It was great I felt that I was home. We went over and talked to the family that we worked with on the horse farm. The only down side was that we didn't have too much time to visit every one on my list, we could of kept really really busy with all my old friends there. The following day we had the 1st mission conference in the history of my mission, where all the missionaries met together to be trained... By Elder Neal L. Andersen, From the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. It was Fantastic!!  I was Tickled Pink to hear that my Homecoming Talk was About the Atonement, For the reason of, That is what Elder Andersen Trained us about. Needless to say I am stoked for that privlage. Things are looking up with us here. things are getting a little better for our companionship, still a little rough but it is getting there.  So we also had a rude awakining coming in last night to a Whole Family of skunks in our back yard. A mom, a dad and 2 little baby skunks...... This is very Unfortunate. You might be getting a video of us trying to trap them. Our ward mission leader bought us a live trap and left it up to us to catch them.... This will be intresting. Any ways I love you all and I hope that you all have a great week and enjoy the fresh air!!

Hey family,
It was super good to talk you all yesterday. Because of us talking yesterday... I don't really have too much to say. You all know how I am doing and I know how you all are doing.  So anyways, things this week have been really really slow, Purdue Graduations were this week. that's kinda unfortunate but it happens. This week is going to packed super bad with a lot of meetings we have a 2 day leadership conference Friday and also Saturday. Some one from headquarters is coming to that... we are pretty excited for that. Its going to be great. Transfers are coming up but not until May 30th so that Monday I will be able to tell you if I will be staying or getting transferred. I have a feeling tho that I will be staying. I have a feeling that I will be staying for my last transfer. but who knows?  I am great full that I have had this privilege to be able to serve a mission. This  has totally changed my life.  I love you all I hope that you all have a super duper great week.
Love Jared

May 7th 2012

Hey family,
Things this week were pretty slow. But at the same time it has been pretty amazing. We started off the week with a Zone Conference. That was great! Very insightful. Things were going good there until they announced all the departing missionaries to get up and bear their testimonies. To my surprise, I was in that group!  That is a very unfortunate event that is happening it has made me really reflect over the past 2 years and think of all of the great things that have happened. And it has been great! The lord really is in this work and in the servants that are serving him.  My companion is hanging in there, its actually been a rougher week that hoped for. But we were still able to get things rolling. So also this week our investigator with a baptismal date, no longer has a current date. He is getting some serious negative feedback from his wife that is a member. He is feeling very overwhelmed with the whole situation that he is under going. We did get the Quad that I bought for him and he was very great full for them.  Other than that not too much has happened this week still has been a dead week with summer coming rapidly and also finals going on at Purdue. The weather here has been super crazy...still no tornado... It has rained so much that it is not even funny we have been soaked multiple days and yet at the same time it has been super hot and once again HUMID!!  so we know that summer is fastly approaching around the corner.  All has been well and I am looking forward to talking with you all on Sunday. I hope that you have a great week.! love you all!

Flight Plan Arrives

I am a little slow on this, but a few weeks ago when I woke up in the morning, my husband handed me  a few papers.  I looked down to see that they were Jared's  travel itinerary for his flight home.  Talk about massive adrenaline rush!  He will fly into the Pocatello Airport at 11:50 am on July 10.  Two months and two weeks?  So close and so exciting.

April 30, 2012

Hey Family!
Things are slowing down for us a bit this week. Purdue is having finals this week so every one that we are teaching that is going to Purdue are graduate students, and are slammed with studies. So unfortunate it hasn't been very busy this week. It really effects us when stuff happens at Purdue. But all is well even tho we didn't teach to many lesson we did however do alot of service. That is always a nice change and is quite refreshing to be able to do some service every once and a while. We did alot of yard work, I also did some sheet rocking, some gardening, rebuilt some lawnmowers. So all in all it was a pretty good week for some service. We also moved 2 families this week. One nonmember and one member family. It was pretty cool, the non member family is from Mountain Home.  They are here because he grew up here and they are both going to Purdue. So it was really fun to be with some good ole Idaho folk. Even tho most of the ward here are Idahoans. This week I had an unfortunate event happen that was kinda heartbreaking. As a district leader I get the privilege to interview candidates for baptism from the members of the district. Our wonderful sisters have been working with an older gentleman that had a baptismal date for this weekend. At the interview this fellow and I were talking and I was getting to know him. He is amazing. He use to be a truck driver for a potato farm in Burley way back in the day. It was pretty cool. But as I interviewed him  it became very clear that he was not living the word of wisdom and had strait up lied to the sisters about not drinking  coffee. To me discomfort I could not let him undertake that covenant of baptism. It was heart wrenching to see him confess to the sisters that he had not been living the word of wisdom and that he could not be baptised. This week my testimony has grown immensely of the spiritual gift of discernment. I have also gained a greater testimony of the book of Mormon and the spiritual guidance that it has provided for not only me, but also for my companion. We have been having like a family scripture study as a companionship. It has been absolutely amazing. The spirit has been super duper strong as we read the words of Christ and to talk about how they apply to them in their individual life. I hope and pray that everyone takes a little bit more effort this week in feasting upon the words of Christ. I love you all and hope that you have a great week!

April 23, 2012

hey Family,
Things are going well for us this week.  Its been actually fantastic. We were able to teach a lot of lessons for us. We got to find some new investigators. One is from Tennessee and has a super thick accent and would need a chain saw to cut through. It has been amazing. So much has happened this week. Its great. I kinda don't know what to say this week. It just has been super duper amazing. Our investigators are doing super amazing. I don't know I am just kinda speechless today. All is well and things are going great for us. Except for that little skunk! He is still in our back yard. I messed up my back again this week lifting a piano helping a family move, but all is well the Lord is blessing us for our efforts. We are still on track with our people who will be baptized this month and we are super excited for them. All in all it just has been a very spirit filled week and all has been amazing. I love you all I hope that you have a great week.!!!!!

April 16, 2012

Hey Family,
Things are going well for us. We got the transfer call this morning... and neither of us are getting transferred. Things are going to stay the same for at least one more transfer. Things have been well for us. we had a pretty good and eventful week and really got a lot accomplished. The real highlight of the week was that Elder Paul P. Pieper from the seventy came out and attended our stake conference. It was really good. He talked about a lot of different things and nothing in particular. But the spirit was super strong and was able to touch the hearts of those that were in attendance. We had a full week, we were able to teach a bunch of our investigators and were able to add 2 new investigators to our teaching pool. Also a cool side note, Elder Bair is immune to poisen ivy!!! But the weather this week has been all crazy, no tornados tho, it has rained and blows all day and is not able to break about 60 all week.  I got THE call from the mission office this week about flight plans.... that was totally unexpected, I told them that I would like to fly into Pocatello, so other than that I havent heard anything else. We still have some really solid investigators and still have one investigator on a baptismal date for may 26 they are super awesome. Things here are going well. I suppose that I dont really have to much to say, we are still doing the same thing day to day. I love you all I hope that you all have a great week.

April 9, 2012

Hey family,
Things have been pretty well this week. we were able to have interviews with our mission president. It was pretty great. I was also able to get a new temple recommend at the same time that expires in October. so no worries there. So this week we were able to set another baptismal date for May 26 with a really sweet investigator. He is super prepared and solid in his testimony of the restored gospel. His wife is slowly coming back to church as well and they are both excited as well. Nothing to exciting happened this week, we were out 2 days because i got food poisoning again so that was no fun. this yeah Easter was great our sacrament meeting was especially good the primary took over the meeting, it was especially good to hear from all the children in the ward and hear of their solid testimonies of the resurrected savior Jesus Christ. The spirit was really strong throughout the whole meeting and was present for us the rest of the day. We were able to attend a why i believe fireside as well last night to finish our Easter Sunday off. while there a recent convert talked about her conversion story and about all the things that went on during her conversion process. A particular story that she told was a testimony builder for me to know that Gods hand is in everything. After accepting the commitment to live the word of wisdom she was struggling with her coffee in the morning, a particular morning a shipment of real expensive coffee came in the mail and she opened and and smelled it and got ready to roast a cup, when the pot was brewing she went to get ready for the day and came back to the coffee spilled all over her kitchen. she started to examine to see what happened and realized that her coffee pot had just "Exploded" with out reason. she lives by her self as a single lady and she has lived the word of wisdom from that day. It is truly amazing to see what happens to Gods so loved children when they come in contact with the truth of the restored gospel on the earth. and how he provides a way for them to come to the fold. I am glad to hear of the great holiday back home. i love you all and hope for a great week for you all.

April 2, 2012

Hey Family,
This week was a great week!! most of all because it was conference!! It was super good to hear the great council from our beloved prophet. It is truly a great experience to hear the works that have been inspired to a prophet directly from God him self. Unfortunately, the sad part of conference was that all that talks seemed to be directed to me not as a missionary, but rather as a father and husband?? It to be honestly kinda scared me, but i guess i will have to grow up some time or another. Its been a great week we have been teaching some amazing people and are getting some progress as we teach them. Due to investigator rights i cant tell names but i will tell you about them a little bit. So (Don) has been investigating for multiple years, for the reason of probation and other stuff. he is a super cool guy and has changed a lot from his old way. but we teach don on a regular basis and he is doing really well. This week when we went over to the lesson we had quite a scare, we were watching a movie ( Joseph Smith Prophet of the Restoration), there was a knock on the door and it was his probation officer! well he has to do a breath test randomly every so often. well he blew over the limit that his probation allows him to have. my poor companion was scared to death. i said a little prayer and asked heavenly father that everything would be fine. so after about 20 minutes with multiple probation officers he was released and was allowed to continue with every day stuff. We finished the movie and after he realized that he HAS to stop living the way that. we agreed and he is making the necessary steps to help him. I am very great full for the blessing that God has put in his path to shake him up enough to make him want to change. We are also teaching a couple that are absolutely amazing! we have come to love them a lot! especially me because they are big time dirt bike people, but this week we taught him about the plan of salvation and how god has allowed us as his children to return to him.he was totally blown away and had some super amazing questions and I just love questions! but he and his wife watched general conference and when President Monson talked in the Sunday morning session he talked about the Plan of Salvation, and he totally ate it up, when we followed up with him he said that he just felt great when he spoke because it was things that we had talked about that week when we had met with him. He is going to make a great member when he actually joins! This week just has truly been a fantastic week and everything is going well. I am glad to hear that the family is going well and the new baby was introduced to world safely and that we are able to welcome her in to the family. She is truly a blessing to us. I am very great full to be serving the lord and the chance that i have that we may bring souls unto Christ! I am sad that it has to end some time! it really hit me i looked at my temple recommend today and it expired at the end of this month... For every thing there is a time and a season... I love you all I hope that you have a great week!

March 26, 2012

Hey Family,
Things are going great for us! This week has been super interesting.  But it has been amazing! First off with some awesome news, we had 8 Investigators attend sacrament meeting this week. It was Truly amazing. That's the highest number of of investigators that I have ever seen at just one ward before. We also have been enjoying the warmer weather this week.  It's been so nice and we have been able to do some sweet service. While on exchanges with a zone leader in our area we did some service and helped weed and prune some trees. and a little yard work, we had an interesting day. First off the lady's dog ended up attacking my zone leader and ripped his leg up, the best part about it was it was a 3 legged pit bull that was still on a leash. After that in a matter of about 10 minutes I was pruning some bushes with some pruning shears and about sliced off the tip of my index finger. for as bad as it all went it went really well. We are both fine and no severe damage was done. It was really funny actually. We have been really enjoying working and finding people this week we have talked to a lot of people and are continuing to seek for those that are ready to receive the restored gospel. Its been really fun to find different ways that we can just randomly  start conversations with people it is actually really fun! Nothing too much is new with our investigators, spring break is over and now all of the students are home and we are able to teach a lot more it has been an very effective week for us and our investigators. We were able to break down some walls with some investigators to really find out what some of their concerns are. It has been really spiritual. We are totally stoked to be able to watch general conference. I am kinda sad tho, because it won't be the same atmosphere in October when the next one happens. I will no longer be a missionary and I might not have the same meanings as they would here. i am very great full to be a missionary, even in Indiana! I am truly going to miss it and being able to live here. I hope that all is well and is going great for all of you. I love you all!

March 19, 2012

Hey mom,
Things are going well for us this week, kinda sorta... Its been hard for us this week we have spring break here and all of our investigators are gone but they should be back this week to get stuff done. We are going to rock this town this week. The weather here has been unbelievable it has super warm like high 70 low 80 all week. This is probably been the hottest winter that I have experienced my whole life. but it sure has been nice to see all of the flowers and the trees budding and all that stuff happening. we are having a lot of success with doing random service in this area. For example This morning we just went to help an investigator rebuild a carburetor for his scooter. luckily I still got the magic touch I tore the whole scooter down and had it all put together and running in about an hour and a half.  I loved it I got gas in my mouth and everything it was great!! but this week we have a lot of time to help clean yards and all that cool jazz for some investigators and potential investigators, it should be good. My companion Elder McCrady is a stud and is doing amazing we still have our moments but for the most part it is great.  Our investigators are all doing well and are working on their baptismal dates, we are gaining a lot of support from the ward as they see that we are busting our butt for them and their ward. We have been going around and getting all the stuff for family mission plans and so far the way that we are doing it makes it fun and exciting. the ward is really receptive of it. I hope that it actually works as good as it should. everything so far has been great the work is amazing and everything is just going right. its been super great. Hey Family,
Things are going well for us. This week has been amazing My new companion is just a little weird but is super so far, his name is Elder McCrady from west Jordan Utah. I have served around him before my, my last transfer in Plainfield he was in my district being trained. So it has been good and we are having a bunch of success so far. This week we set 2 Baptismal dates for April and will be setting at least 2-3 more here within a week or so. So things are starting to pick up. We also got a new ward mission leader last week and he is amazing. He is such a great help for us and is helping like crazy to continue to gain the trust of the members in this area. It has been great and will continue to be amazing as we work hard and give it our all! So other than that nothing has really happened to much, day light savings totally kicked my butt yesterday? But I think that it kicked our investigators butt a little bit more, this week we only had 2 investigators that attended sacrament meeting, but the upside is that it was their first time and they absolutely loved it and will be coming back.  One of them had a baptism date and hopefully we will be able to get his wife on a date in the next week or so. We also had some amazing lessons with some investigators this week, and have been making some slow progress with an eternal investigator. This week was pretty nice its been nice weather for most of the week its kinda been in the upper 60's and the low 70's and perfect weather!  Other than that nothing too much has been happened this week it was just a normal week. I don't know what else to say other than have a great week!! I love you all!

March 5th, 2012

Hey family,
Things are going good for us this week. Elder Judkins got a call this morning and is getting transferred. I am going to miss him just a bit. This week was really good for us and our companionship. We have been working hard and we are finding more joy in each other. It will be good for him to have another companion as well. So this week, we taught the most lessons since I have been here in Lafayette and we have been making some progress with some investigators and will be able to set a bapitmal date with 2 of them this week. We have been able to help some people move and I was able to render some Phycial service to some members this week, it felt good!  The weather this week has kinda been horriable and really good at the same time. There has been multiable tornados in Indiana, but unfortunatly non here in Lafayette. There were a couple of weather alarms that alarmed here but no success. It also got to almost 70 a day or two they were real nice, we didnt have to wear suit jackets it was really amazing. So as with transferrs this week I am staying and everybody in my district is changing except one elder. The sisters area is getting double trasnferred out and will be replaced by 2 different sisters and we are getting a new zone leader due to one going home tomorrow. So yeah all has been going well for us here and things are seriously looking up for us. We had 5 investigators attend sacrament meeting this week and they were all the ones that we were able to have a lesson with as well.  I hope that all goes well for all you guys this week I love you all!
