Letter From Mission President October 17, 2010

Dear Parents of Indiana Indianopolis Missionary,
     On December 15 & 16, we will gather the missionaries in the Indiana Indianapolis Mission together to enjoy the Christmas Spirit.  Your missionary will participate with us on one of those two days. During the course of each gathering, the missionaries will hear messages regarding the birth of Christ, and enjoy a nice meal and some social time together.  At each gathering, Sister Collins and i would like to deliver to each missionary a letter from home that expresses to him or her thoughts from loved ones regarding the importance of the Christmas Season.  We would appreciate your taking the time to write such a letter to your missionary.  Please fill your letter with your feelings about your missionary's service, your love for him or her, and the real spirit of Christmas.  It would be best to refrain from reminiscing about Christmas at home.  That tends to distract missionaries from their purpose here and makes the homesick.

     When the missionaries receive their letters we will give them time for a written response so they can be received at home prior to Christmas day.

     Please send your sealed letter before the end of November, addressed as follows:

     Your unopened letter will be given to your missionary on Dec. 15 or 16.  We anticipate the the Christmas gatherings will be a very special time for each missionary serving in this mission.  We appreciate and are honored by the opportunity to serve with your wonderful and faithful missionay.

     Thank you for helping to make this Christmas Season on that your missionary will remember with fondness for years to come.  We would appreciate it if you would not mention to your missionary that you are sending or expecting a Christmas letter.  We hope to make it a surprise bonus during the Christmas gatherings.
